Arsene Wenger has blocked an attempt made by the Arsenal board to add Thierry Henry to the coaching staff until the end of the season, reports claim.
The French tactician received a request from Josh Kroenke, son of majority shareholder Stan, to add Henry to his backroom team but was quick to swat his suggestion away.
Kroenke Jr has been desperately unimpressed with recent results and believes Henry can add a lift to the whole club as they prepare for life without Champions League football next season.
Henry had already been sounded out about a return and both the Belgium national side and Sky Sports would be happy for him to return if Wenger agreed.
But Wenger has refused their request and is determined to continue down his own path.
Henry was previously denied the chance to coach Arsenal’s Under-18s by the manager, despite the former Barcelona ace offering to work for free.
