Arsenal saw their title hopes dented after slipping to a 2-1 home defeat to Watford with Younes Kaboul and Troy Deeny doing the damage for the visitors.

The visitors got off to the perfect start, Tom Cleverley nudging a free kick to Kaboul who hammered it goalward after just 10 minutes, the ball taking a little nick off Aaron Ramsey, enough to help it past Petr Cech.

Less than three minutes later and Watford had doubled their lead. Etienne Capoue robbing Ramsey before firing goalwards, Cech could only parry leaving Deeney to tap home the rebound.

Theo Walcott replaced Olivier Giroud at half-time and made an instant impact, reinvigorating a Gunners side that managed zero shots on target in the first half.

Alex Iwobi pulled one back after great work by Alexis Sanchez just shy of the hour mark and then Lucas Perez was sent on for Francis Coquelin as Arsenal went on the attack.

The summer signing thundered one off the cross bar with minutes remaining as Arsenal ramped up the pressure but this time the late goal just did not come.
